Trevase Holiday Cottages Information
Trevase Cottages is a family run business which started in 2007 when Trevase Granary opened its doors as luxury accommodation for large groups. This was closely followed by Penblaith Barn
a few years later. The Pursey family are delighted to share the beautiful Herefordshire countryside with you, which we are lucky enough to have as the backdrop to our family farm.
Trevase is a mixed farm which runs 800-acres of arable land, 6 broiler sheds, 500 commercial ewes (lambing from January until March), 40 pedigree Charolais ewes (lambing in December), 70
suckler cows and a coarse fishing lake, which is a nice short walk from the Granary and free for guests to fish. An Anaerobic Digester Plant, fed on maize silage and chicken litter, was installed in
2013 to generate power. Most of the 500kw is exported to the grid, but it also supplies the farm site, including the Granary. The heat generated is used to warm the chicken sheds and will soo be
heating a drying shed, and possibly also The Granary.
Meet The Team
The farm and holiday lets are jointly run by the second and third generation to live at Trevase. Roger, Liz’s husband, runs the farm with his son, David, Amy’s husband. You may also see David
and Amy’s children, William, Sophie and James, around the farm.
Liz was brought up on a family farm in Gloucester and after training and, while working as a farm secretary, married Roger and moved into his family
farmhouse at Trevase. Together, they ran the farm and its successful dairy herd until 2003 and brought up three children. Liz also managed to fit in holding the position of Chair of Herefordshire
NFU for a year. Not long after this, she had the vision to use one of the underused barns at Trevase Farm as a holiday let and the business was born! Of course, not before a huge amount of work
had gone into creating the luxury accommodation you see today. Liz manages the overall and day-to-day running of the barns whilst still being very much involved in the farming business. If you don't
find her in the office or running errands, you will probably find that she is on one of her adventurous holidays somewhere in the world with Roger!
Amy, formerly a primary school teacher, is married to Liz's son, David, and decided to join Liz managing the holiday lets when their first child was
born in 2010. Also a farmer’s daughter and having spent most of her childhood in Shropshire, Amy has a keen interest and involvement in the farm business. As their youngest of three children was
born in 2015, Amy is still very much committed to the school run and looking after her little ones, but remains as much involved as possible and takes charge of computer-based work, including
marketing for the holiday lets.
Chloe joined the team in 2014, initially taking over from Amy in account keeping, and has proved a valuable addition to the team for a range of
tasks involved in running the holiday lets. Covering maternity for Amy and providing holiday cover for Liz, Chloe now knows all aspects of the business very well. Chloe, also a hands-on farmer's
daughter at a local farm, is an AAT qualified bookkeeper and works throughout Herefordshire for a number of successful business, so we are very lucky to have her expertise so close by.
Theresa has been helping Liz in the farmhouse and with the children since they were little and is now also head housekeeper at Trevase Granary.
She has the task of managing three other ladies to clean The Granary throughout the year. Her husband, Kevin, has worked on the farm for 40 years and his practical skills occasionally come in
handy for the holiday lets too.
Maria started cleaning Penblaith with her cousin when it first opened in 2010. She has run her own cleaning company for 13 years, providing an
excellent service with her team of cleaners for many local businesses. Coming to Herefordshire on her travels after completing a Masters in Agritourism in her home country of Romania, Maria has
been happily settled here with her husband for over a decade now.
